Since so many books I want to read reference Jane Eyre (i.e. The Eyre Affair and The Thirteenth Tale, to name a few), I thought it would be a good idea to read this classic first. I thought I had read this when I much much younger, but I might have confused it with Daddy Long Legs. It is pretty good so far but it's taking me a long time to finish it, which is driving me mad. I keep glancing over at all my TBR books...

So glad you're back Amelia and lovely to see you're reading one of my favorite classics of all time! I know it's a long(ish) read, but you'll enjoy it.
I keep meaning to read this myself. I actually looked for it at the library the other day but they didn't have any copies in. Maybe I'll wander down to the second-hand bookstore this weekend.
Jane Eyre is one of my favorites. I'll bet that by the time you finish it you'll be glad you read it.
Jane Eyre still seems remarkable to me. Hope you enjoy it!
You know, I am one of those people that has been saying for like a year now, I need to read Jane Eyre... STILL haven't!
First time I read Jane Eyre, I hated it...so dark and gloomy not to mention that horrid time when Jane was in the orphanage. Now, I'm a huge fan. I particularly wish that someone would do a movie on that and Wuthering Heights. There have been remakes a plenty but why not these 2 books?
I am so glad to hear you are doing better. I have been thinking of you!
I just read The Expected One and it was AWESOME!
Lotus - Thanks! :) I hope I enjoy it as much as you did! I'm not sure why it's taking me so long to finish it, though...
Sassymonkey - Thanks for stopping by! How odd that your library didn't have any copies - I guess it's a popular read for the fall. I hope that when you do get your hands on it that you enjoy it ;)
Booklogged & Jenclair - More great recommendations! This gives me more incentive to keep going ;)
Kailana - Thanks for stopping by! Yes - it seems that most everyone has read Jane Eyre. Because it's referenced in so many books, I thought it would be better to read it so I actually know what the authors are hinting at! :)
Indigo - It definitely is dark & gloomy. It had me depressed for a while so I hope it lets up a bit. There is actually a version of Jane Eyre out on DVD - here is the link: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0116684/ I actually saw some of it and it was REALLY good so I want to see the whole movie when I finish the book. A co-worker saw this version and loved it!
Nancy - Thanks, luv! You know, you're the second person that I've read that has given The Expected One rave reviews. Another one to add on my list :)
Jane Eyre is one of my all-time favorite books. I do hope you enjoy it, Amelia!
