I am truly honored!!

Imagine my surprise when upon perusing through Ami McKay's website for The Birth House, spotting an excerpt from my review linked there. Well, my jaw just about dropped to the office below mine. I printed it out so that I can pull it out and stare at it when I'm feeling down. I also offered to autograph it for my co-workers, but they didn't bite. Player haters!! heh heh :)

I also had a very well-known author contact me (Yay!!) but first I have to find out if it's okay for me to post about it. If not, then I will relish in my secret!

I hope everyone had a great day! I'm off to study for A&P, which includes a quiz, two essays, and an exam.

Also, stop by The Written World. Kailana posed a great question that is sure to make you all salivate!

By the way, if you haven't read The Birth House yet, please do so. It truly is fantastic!

Now how cool is that!?! :) I love your comment about autographing...too cute.

What I never realized (duh me) was that the authors of the books that I share my thoughts about MAY actually read them. YIKES! That makes me think twice about what I write. Thanks for the heads-up.

And congrats again! That sure must have been a fun surprise.

Oh...what's A&P?

Very cool! I loved her book, too! I hope she is working on another!

I think that is so cool that she quoted your blog! I'm surprised she didn't notify you in advance, though. I need to get the book!!

I had an author contact me, too, asking if she could send me an ARC of her upcoming release. I've never read anything by her, but I thought, what the heck.

Hi Joy!

Thanks for the congrats! I also never considered that one day an author might read my reviews. I definitely have to start practising the art of constructive criticism!

A&P stands for Human Anatomy & Physiology. Sorry! - I'm so used to saying A&P that I forget to actually write it out! I LOVE the course but am a bit overwhelmed at the moment. My professor is awesome, too.

Hi Danielle!

I hope so, too! If so, I'm kind of hoping that it will be in the same format because I enjoyed it so much! It's one of those books where you can actually go back and pick out sections to read.

Hi Les :)

Definitely find a copy! It's very interesting and very enoyable!

I'm actually glad that she didn't notify me because I experienced complete elation from being surprised. But then, I never would have known had I not been curious, either.... Hmmm....

Congrats on the ARC!! I had the same thing happen to me, too. I also never read the author's work but there is a first time for everything and I love coming across enjoyable reads :)

Hey guys, Ami McKay does in fact have another book in the works. I read about it somewhere, I am going to go look and then I will post the quote.

Canadian rights to The Birth House author Ami McKay's THE VIRGIN CURE, to Diane Martin at Knopf Canada, in a significant deal, by Helen Heller at Helen Heller Agency.

That means that the book is in the publishers hands, so next year release maybe, or the year after.

That is too cool Amelia. The McKay thing. I recall once when I accidentally found [online] that someone had quoted [in their Master's Thesis] a piece of a review of East of Eden I had written.
I'd been footnoted! My, my!
Isn't that just wild when stuff like that happens?
Everything good to you!

That's wonderful Amelia, I know I would have been thrilled to bits! :)

Yes, and authors do peruse the blogs, and very often they will request you to read an ARC - I had it happen once or twice and I was very happy to oblige!

I remember reading your review of "The Birth House" (thank you) and managed to mooch myself a copy, now I just have to make time to read it.

Looking forward to your next post!

I got offered my very first advanced reading copy of a book yesterday myself!

Kailana - Thanks so much for the info! That was so sweet of you! I can't wait until it is released. And congrats on your advanced reading copy offer!! The same thing happened to me - isn't it exciting??!!!

Cipriano - Thanks for the well wishes! And how cool (for you) that you were footnoted. Can you imagine how many other times that has happened then??

Lotus - I hope you enjoy it as much as I did! And I certainly am thrilled - I literally freaked out!!

Carl V. - thanks!! And thanks to your pic, I want to watch Star Wars.

Wow, that's pretty cool!

OK, that book sounds awesome (it had me at Nova Scotia, where I lived for many years) and I've added it to my wishlist.
